Common Queries

What would you like to know?

What kind of massage shall I book?

Great question!

If you have a niggle, ache, pain, tension or movement restriction, the option to choose 'Health Massage' was created, where we draw on a range of massage styles depending on the session. A full consultation is given at the beginning of the session, and we work with you to tailor the session to you.

Those looking for massage post-operation, while health massage can include manual lymphatic drainage, specifically choosing manual lymphatic drainage as an option, would be the best choice.

If you would like to combine massage with Physiotherapy, there is also the option to do this! Gain the benefits of the assessments, stretches and exercises of physiotherapy with the benefits of the manual therapy of massage.

What can I expect?

We are two well experienced and highly qualified professionals who have a shared aim to improve health and wellbeing in this town and further afield. Brian has graduated with a BSc First Class Honours in Physiotherapy on top of his specialist massage diplomas from the Academy de Quiros and other specialised training. Katherine has graduated with a BSc First Class Honours in Complementary Therapies for Healthcare and a Distinction in MSc Psychology.

The main base is Creuynni Wellbeing home clinic on the outskirts of the town centre. It is cosy, down to earth, and homely. At times, we also work from other health centres, and at a variety of events nationwide.  For those with severe disabilities which mean that they cannot attend a clinic, we do sometimes offer mobile sessions where we can.  Information on these can be found my messaging us on Whatsapp on: 07472266952.

Each session begins with a consultation to find out what your needs are and what you are looking for in a treatment. This can include posture analysis or muscle tests to identify which parts of the body may be affected, and simply some questions to learn about your health history or anything else that may affect the massage. Please just answer what you feel comfortable answering, though medical history is important to check for contraindications to massage.

Each session is individual, and everyone is individual, so during the treatment, you are asked to feedback if you need less or more pressure, so that we can adjust this if needed to make sure the treatment is the best it can be for you. Post-treatment, for the health-based massages some exercises may be suggested to help maintain the benefits of massage between sessions.

What do I need to wear?

This is up to you and your comfort level. Most do choose to just go down to suitable underwear, and be covered with a towel or blanket for ease of working with the muscles, fascia and lymphatic system.

Can you tell me a bit more about the practitioners?

Of course! Massage Wrexham is a family business, Brian and Katherine are partners in life and partners in providing support for health self-management through massage, physiotherapy and other complementary healthcare practices. Both have been working offering massage since 2013, coming together to found and work as Massage Wrexham in 2017.

Brian comes from Catalonia! He brings with him the excellent Quiromassage from the Academy de Quiros as well as his qualifications in Deep Tissue, Sports Massage and Reflexology from this academy. He came to Wrexham to improve his English for 5 weeks, fell in love with Katherine, and is still here over 7 years later! More recently, Brian decided to expand again on this excellent skillset and is now has graduated with a BSc First Class Honours degree in Physiotherapy and now works for both the NHS and Massage Wrexham.

Katherine grew up in Wrexham. After an cholecystectomy operation, she experienced chronic neurological pain and almost constant, but intermittent paralysis. With the mainstream medicine at a loss at how they could help, Katherine had to turn to complementary therapies to assist.  Katherine gained a BSc First Class Honours in Complementary Therapies at Wrexham Glyndwr University, where here studies included massage, manual lymphatic drainage, therapeutic interventions for musculoskeletal injuries, aromatherapy, reflexology and more. Katherine recently gained MSc Distinction in Psychology and is also a Four Winds Society HLB graduate. Katherine specialises in Manual Lymphatic Drainage and other health-based massages alongside teaching meditation and other innerwisdom therapies with Creuynni Wellbeing.

Both are motivated by benefiting the health and wellbeing of people in Wrexham and wider afield.

Brian is registered with the HCPC, and insured by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists, Katherine is insured by Balens, and both work to uphold high professional and ethical standards in their work. And both come with excellent reviews! They can be seen on Google on Facebook by those that have left reviews (Thank you to everyone that takes the initiative and time to do so! It really helps!)

Is there parking?

Yes, there is on-street parking and usually, you can park in front of the building. You can park anywhere on Salisbury Close up to the point to the start of the seven garages where it changes to residential parking only. In the unlikely event that there are no parking spaces in the close, there is a small amount of parking opposite the Co-op, and LIDL car park just around the corner, checking the length of stay available for those places.

How do I book/pay?

All appointments are only available by pre-booking. The easiest way to check availability and book is online www.massagewrexham.com/book-online.

If there are any other times/days that you need than what you see there, particularly if there is urgent need, it is worth voice or text messaging us via Whatsapp/Text/Telegram: 07472266952 to see if we can add some extra appointments in for you.

We take pre-payments for appointments. This is via the online booking, via a payment link, bank transfer, card payment and paypal.
These pre-payments are not refundable but they are completely transferable to a different day/time and/or person.

Are you inclusive?

Absolutely. LGBT+, all ethnic backgrounds, ND, NT, those with learning differences, those with disabilities/differently-abled, naturists, all genders respected, appreciated and welcomed here. All our products used are nut-free and suitable for vegans, so are suitable for vegetarians, vegans and omnivores alike :)

Do you do extras/erotic massage?

To quote Shakespeare 'Nay, nay and thrice nay'. Really. We do try to make it obvious that we do not offer this by writing 'health massage', 'sports massage' 'massage for your health and fitness'. However, we still do get asked this and not everyone takes no for an answer straight away. So to confirm, we do not do what some call 'extras'. At all. Not for twenty pounds, not even for one thousand pounds. We reserve the right to refuse treatment to anyone acting without respect for this.

There are other kinds of professionals in that field that do that type of massage and a simple internet search will find those that do. Our massage is completely different. The massage that we do here is health and wellbeing based such as deep tissue massage, sports massage, therapeutic massage, quiromassage, lymphatic drainage, reflexology and more. For those still thinking about asking us anyway: We are health massage practitioners. You would not ask your physiotherapist, dentist or other health practitioners this question, so please do not ask us this. Thank you!
